Building regulations part K
The most relevant building regulations for wrought iron work, is part K. This is the section concerning stairs, stair rails and guard rails and hand rails. Any new property or extention that requires planning permission or any propety that is rented out will require any work to conform to the current building regulations. The relevant document is available as a download in the PDF format from www.planningportal.gov.uk ,please note this will open in a new window and will require popup blockers to be temporarily turned off to open. The blacksmith / wrought iron worker should be able to give more advice on constructing stairs or balastrades or hand rails to building reg specifications. |
